Dietary Sevices
Our Dietitians are approved under the NDIS
Dietitians can work with clients under the NDIS to improve their health, wellbeing and independence. We can work with those who are self-managed or managed through an agency. Services can be claimed under Improved Health & Wellbeing and Improved Daily Living (depending on your goals).
Our Dietitians offer a person-centred focus in supporting clients with cognitive, physical, sensory, neurological and intellectual limitations under the NDIS.
Planning ahead and addressing nutritional needs starts with shopping. Our team will be there by your side to help you create your shopping list and support you while you shop.
How it works
Our Dietitians will communicate with you and listen to you to understand your specific nutrition needs. If you wish, we can also involve your carers, family, and support workers in the creation of a plan, that will lead to improve your independence, build your capacity in nutrition and meet your individual goals. We will then help you help you choose your nutrition interventions.
Our Dietitians will work collaboratively with other health care professionals as part of your multidisciplinary team to maximise your outcomes. We offer customised approaches to suit your needs, ensuring that access to our services is made easy for you.
At your initial appointment, the Dietitian will undertake a thorough nutrition assessment and discuss your goals under their NDIS plan. This will be followed by a plan of support that will help you to achieve your goals.
Our Dietitians also provide:
- Practical resources and support to assist with eating, feeding and cooking. This can include portion tools and meal time feeding resources, shopping tours, safe food handling education as well as enhanced recipe and meal development.
- Guidance on eating out and eating socially, including how to choose suitable foods from fast food outlets and menus.
- Assistance with managing Home Enteral Nutrition (HEN) and medical grade nutritional supplements i.e. PEG – percutaneous endoscopic gastronomy. Adherence to PEG feeding regimes, how to order feeds and consumables, troubleshooting and education on caring for the PEG site and equipment.
- Education is available to carers in all of these areas as well
How can dietitians support people with disability?
